Kaduna State Government, Google, and DSN Launch Groundbreaking Hausa-Language AI Learning Series

Google, in partnership with the Kaduna State Government and Data Science Nigeria, has introduced the AI for Beginners Learning Video Series, representing a significant step in tech education.

This innovative series delivers Artificial Intelligence concepts in Hausa, addressing the challenges faced in accessing tech education and career opportunities in Northern Nigeria due to socio-cultural dynamics, infrastructure limitations, and language barriers.

The AI for Beginners Learning Video Series utilizes engaging animations and culturally relevant imagery to simplify complex digital concepts, fostering inclusivity and participation in the growing tech sector.

The launch event, held at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Hall in Kaduna, celebrated technology, education, and the immense potential of Northern Nigeria’s women. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State, as the Guest of Honor, emphasized the government’s commitment to digital transformation and economic growth.

Governor Uba Sani declared, “AI is not just the future; it’s the present. By equipping our people, especially our women, with AI skills, we’re paving the way for a more prosperous and innovative Northern Nigeria, and laying the foundation for Kaduna to become a thriving tech hub.”

The Director of Google West Africa highlighted the power of technology for change and expressed Google’s commitment to providing learning resources in local languages to empower more people. He described the series as a milestone in enhancing AI knowledge across Northern Nigeria, driving innovation, and creating new job opportunities.

Dr. Bayo Adekanbi, CEO/Founder of Data Science Nigeria, emphasized the potential of AI education to empower future leaders and innovators in Northern Nigeria, particularly women.

The event featured speeches from representatives of NITDA and the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, highlighting the national significance of the initiative and the government’s support for fostering a vibrant tech ecosystem.
