Kwara: Two in NSCDC net for alleged stealing of a generator

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested two suspected thieves in connection with the stealing of a generating set.

The Command’s spokesman, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, who disclosed this in a statement in llorin on Friday, said the suspects committed the offence at Oyun area of llorin metropolis.

He said: “On Wednesday 16th of July, 2021 our intelligence and investigative department received a complaint about a missing generator. The incident occurred at Tepatan village, Oyun area in Ilorin.

“Through a tip off and joint efforts with the local vigilante, the missing generator was found inside the apartment of one John Samson of Teju Street, Oyun area in llorin.

The suspect’s accomplice, John Jasper of Maiduku street, Sango, Ilorin, has also been picked up.

“Both suspects have confessed to have conspired to steal the generating set and committed the offence on Sunday 19th of July, 2021. One of the suspects, John Jasper actually scaled the fence of the premises where the generator was kept.”

Afolabi said the state Commandant, Iskilu Ayinla, has been briefed about the incident, adding that further action would be taken on his directive.
