*As Kwara earmarks N11.2bn to revamp infrastructure in schools

Kwara State Government has solicited the support of the Federal Government and donor agencies in its drive to revamp the education sector.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq made the call on Saturday at the commissioning of the Multi-billion Naira Main Library Complex of Kwara State University, KWASU, Malete.
Represented by his Deputy, Mr Kayode Alabi, the governor, who decried the shameful and dilapidated condition of Schools in the state, said his administration would be spending at least N11.2 billion to revamp infrastructure in various Schools across the State, adding that government is poised to raise a generation of Children who are able to cope with the education needs of the 21st century.
Abdulrazaq lamented that the decay in infrastructure in primary and secondary schools in the state is better imagined as funds meant for upgrade of facilities were diverted by the previous administration.
He said: “Our administration is starting from ground zero and faced with criminal breakdown of basic infrastructure across every sector especially in the education and health sectors.”
Abdulrasaq commended the management of KWASU for its ingenuity and patriotism to stay afloat against all odds pledging that government would continue to offer its support to help the School achieve its potential.
Also speaking, the Executive Secretary Teritary Education Trust Fund, Professor Suleiman Bogoro described the Library as the best in West Africa pledging that the Fund would always support laudable projects.
In his message, the Project Consultant, Architect Mahamud Faworaja said the Library is a complete research centre and would run twenty four hours service.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of KWASU, Professor AbdulRasheed Na’Allah who reeled out his achievements commended TETFUND for its support which he explained would boost learning and research work.
