A PDP chairmanship candidate in Lagos State, Dr Adetokunbo Pearse, on Tuesday vowed to reinvigorate the party if elected at the Oct. 16 state congress.
Pearse, a University of Lagos lecturer, told our correspondent in Lagos, that he would prioritise unity and peace in the party.
According to him, efforts will be concentrated on bringing all stakeholders to the table to chat a united front.
“If elected Lagos State PDP Chairman, l will work to promote party unity. I will relate closely with party stakeholders at all levels from local to state to zones and to the centre.
“I will reinvigorate the party with regular activities such as seminars, conferences, and award ceremonies.
“These events will take place in different local government areas to ensure the participation of members at all levels,’’ Pearse, a former governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, said.
He said that PDP’s activities and his plan for the state would convince the people of Lagos to join the PDP as a positive alternative.
According to Pearse, his appeal for new membership will be in particular to the young, vigorous and forward looking people who are committed to a better Lagos State.
He noted that his primary mission would be to reenergise the party and to encourage its members to win electoral offices from local government level to the House of Assembly, House of Representatives, the Senate and the governorship seat.
Other candidates at the forthcoming congress are Dr Amos Fawole, Mr Niyi Adams and Mr Olabode Avodji.
