President of Federal Republic of Nigeria Muhammadu buhari set to visit Maiduguri the Borno state capital on Thursday ,the 2nd of march 2023 to sympatise with the victims of Monday market fire disaster to assess the damage for outline both short and longer strategies to support the marketers who have virtually lost everything to the inferno.
Bono state governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum revealed the presidential planned visit while embarking on an assessment visit to the destroyed market for the third time since the incident occurred. He said the clearance and reconstruction exercise of the Monday market will be commenced with immediate effect after the planned presidential visit on Thursday.
Earlier, President Muhammadu Buhari expressed sadness and consoled with the victims and their families.
In his third visit to the scene of the indent , governor Babagana Umara Zulum was accompanied by the Managing Director Northeast Development Commission (NECD) Alh Muhammed Goni Alkali who has deeply symphatised with the victims and promised that “the commission will also support the victims with 20,000 bags of rice, 10,000 galloon of cooking oil and assorted food items to cushion their hardship.
He assured that NEDC will provide all forms of support to revive the market and the victims within a shortest possible time. He further stated that humanitarian support is first prior to any other supports.
Speaking on behalf of the victims Usman Bukar Awaji commended Governor Zulum for the kind gesture and always has his people in mind.
