Man, 22, jailed three years for house breaking, theft in Kwara

A 22-year-old man, Ayuba Enupe, has been sentenced to three years imprisonment without an option of fine by Magistrate Abdullahi Ahmed Boro in Kaiama, headquarters of Kaiama local government area of Kwara state for offences bordering on house breaking and theft.

Ayuba was prosecuted by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, before Magistrate Boro who summarily convicted him having pleaded guilty to the two-count charge levelled against him.

Ayuba was said to have broken into the house of one Mr. Jimoh Adigun at General Hospital Road, Kaiama, headquarters of Kaiama local government area of the state, carting away five bundles of 50kg sacks for storage and handling of various commodities. He was arrested by the operatives of the NSCDC while he was trying to dispose off the stolen materials.

Further investigations revealed that the convict had earlier been involved in another house breaking and theft of two Android phones from one Mr. Abdulrasaq’s residence in Kuokuo area, Kaiama.

Meanwhile, the Acting Commandant, DCC Jonah Gabriel, has urged the public to be more vigilant and report any suspicious movements in their domains to security agencies, assuring them that the corps would not compromise in her duties to protect lives and property. He also sought for more cooperation and support from the citizenry towards achieving a crime free society.
