Manchester United has reportedly spoken to Alejandro Garnacho following his engagement with social media posts that criticized manager Erik ten Hag’s handling of the player.
After being substituted at half-time during their recent 2-2 draw against Bournemouth, the Argentine winger liked two posts on social media by United fan and YouTuber Mark Goldbridge. One post accused Ten Hag of unfairly criticizing Garnacho’s performance, while the other criticized the decision to substitute him.
Garnacho swiftly unliked both posts, indicating remorse, and according to a United source, the club has addressed the matter internally.
Despite this incident, Garnacho has been a pivotal player for United this season, contributing nine goals and four assists in 42 appearances.
This incident follows a similar situation in September involving Jadon Sancho, who expressed frustration over being left out of the squad and accused Ten Hag of misrepresentation. Sancho was subsequently loaned out to Borussia Dortmund.
Ten Hag’s position at United has faced renewed scrutiny following the draw against Bournemouth, leaving the team in seventh place in the Premier League standings, far from the top four.
With the FA Cup as their only chance for silverware this season, United is set to face second-tier side Coventry in the semi-final at Wembley on Sunday.
