Middle aged Woman accused of criminal trespass in Kwara

A middle aged woman, Mrs Falade, has been accused of criminal trespass into a cashew farm at Ekan community in Oke Ero local government area of Kwara state.

The complainant, Mrs Olajide, said the woman, who was alleged to have illegally entered her father in law’s cashew farm, was caught plucking cashew nuts from the farm, saying that was not the first time the woman would be entering the farmland to pluck cashew nuts from the farm which did not belong to her or her husband, though the complainant said the husband of the accused was claiming that every farmland in the community belongs to him by virtue of his position in the community.

She said she lodged a complaint at the police station in Ekan, but lamented that the woman has failed to honour police invitation up till the time of filing this report.

According to her, the woman’s husband, Chief Olaniyan Falade, was shielding and preventing her wife from honouring the police invitation, saying she was not around, whereas she was actually in town.

She said: “My father in law, because of his good nature, had at a time allowed Chief Falade to plant palm trees inside his cashew farm, which opportunity is now being abused by him.”

Mrs Olajide said this development pissed his father in law off, prompting him to ask them to cut down all the palm trees inside the cashew farm, adding that the palm trees have now been cut down.

She, however, expressed the hope that the cutting down of the palm trees would prevent any illegal entry into the cashew farm again.

When contacted on phone for his reaction to the allegation against his wife, Chief Olaniyan Falade, asked our correspondent to call back in a few minutes time to enable him discharge his visitors who were with him. When our correspondent called back, he simply said he could not make any comments on phone and requesting our correspondent to visit him at Ekan.

Our correspondent later sent an SMS to Chief Falade to explain that he could not go to Ekan, prompting him to request for Chief Falade’s Whatsapp number so that he could be added up to enable him respond to the allegation against his wife through Whatsapp, but he did not return the message up till the time of filing this report.
