NEXIM Commends Alibert on Usage of N1.2Bn MTDLF

The Acting Managing Director of Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), Bashir Wali has expressed satisfaction over the utilisation of the facility extended to Alibert Products Nigeria Limited by NEXIM Bank.
He stated this Tuesday when House of Representatives committee members went on oversight tour of Alibert factory in Idu, Abuja.
Alibert Products Nigeria Limited, which has been operating in Nigeria for years, was granted a Medium Term Facility (MTDLF), of N400 million in July 2013 by NEXIM and N800 million MTDLF in July 2015 to finance the acquisition of equipment to facilitate the expansion of the Company’s factory in Lagos and the setting up of a furniture factory and showroom in Abuja.
At present, the company exports its products to the West African market with functional furniture show rooms in Accra, Ghana; Cotonou, Benin Republic, and plans to also export furniture products to Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
Alibert has a staff strength of about 500, in its employ in both factories in Lagos and Abuja, but had to downsize the workforce to below 350 staff due to the economic downturn.
Alibert Products Nigeria Limited, a leading furniture manufacturing company in Nigeria was incorporated on August 14, 1974 to carry on the business of manufacturing of woods, steel and metal furniture.
The Company which has been in the furniture business for over 35 years was initially producing floor tiles before venturing into the furniture market.
The Company’s products are used in offices, schools, hotels, and household furniture for the domestic and export market.
The Head Office and factory is located at Ikotun-Egbe, Lagos State, and the Company has also established a factory in Idu Industrial Complex, Abuja.
At the end of their oversight visit to Alibert’s factory in Idu Industrial Complex, Abuja, the House of Representatives committee members were impressed by the performance of the company in engaging the locals in the factory, although questions were raised on other issues
