An NGO, Ikra Foundation for Women and Youth Development (IFWYD), said its Gender Based Sexual Violence (GBSV) Response and Referral Network would be scaled up from five to 10 local government councils in Bauchi State.
Mrs Amina Garuba, the Executive Director, IFWYD, said this in an interview with our correspondent in Bauchi on Monday.
She said that the inauguration session would take place from Sept. 6 to Sept. 20 with the network consisting of stakeholders in the selected councils.
According to her, the network will refer and follow up cases in the community to state authorities for action.
“IFWYD with support from the United Nations Population Fund and Global Affairs Canada has scaled up GBSV networks for five to 10 Local Government Councils.
“Earlier, we inaugurated in Ningi, Gamawa, Itas-Gadau, Tafawa Balewa and Kirfi local government councils.
“The new local government councils to be inaugurated this month includes; Zaki, Ganjuwa, Warji, Alkaleri and Darazo.
“The network consists of legal officers, traditional rulers, representatives of youth, women leaders, women groups among others.
“Members of the network are to respond and make referrals to appropriate authorities,” she said.
