Niger Delta: Militant Group Decry Attack On Olu Of Warri Over Tompolo’s Pipeline Renewal Deal
Ex-militant leaders from the Six states of the Niger Delta region has warned a Civil Rights Activist, Comrade Austin Ozobo and others involved in open altercations over the calls for the renewal of the $1.3 billion pipeline surveillance contracts awarded to foremost Former Militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo also known as Tompolo to desist from dragging the name and seat of Olu of Warri,Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, into the controversy.
According to the Former Militant leaders, under the auspices of Anti Pipeline Vandalization and Crude Oil Theft Taskforce Group and the Coalition of Ex- Militant Leaders Forum of Ijaw and Itsekiri in Delta State, warned one Mr Austin Ozobo to immediately cease and desist from hurling allege abuse and attacks on His Imperial Majesty, the Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR.
The Coalition of the Ex-Militant groups, led by the National Coordinator of the group, Gen, Osama and the Coalition of Ijaw and Itsekiri Ex Militant Leaders Forum jointly signed by the two ex- Militant Leaders, Gen. Oritsegbubemi also known as Action Papa, said the open disrespect of the throne of His Imperial Majesty, the Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR is an affront, disrespectful, disheartening, insultive and provocative.
The groups also decried the open disrespect and derogatory to the Imperial Majesty, the Olu of Warri Kingdom, Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR, And on the foregoing urge Mr Ozobo to tender an open apology to the highly respected Olu Of Warri Kingdom, who is one of the most respected Federal Monarch’s in the Niger Delta who is a member of Council Of Nigeria Traditional Rulers (NTRC) which is the Apex Council of all Traditional Rulers in the country”
According to them, “Ozobo was playing a script that is already conceived by his paymasters, whose payroll he belongs to, and advise that he discontinue from such attack to the Olu Of Warri Kingdom, because they are on his trail to track him.”.
“we are really saddened by the boldness of Mr Austin Ozobo who hails from Ayakoromo community under Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State that is not a host to any of the oil facilities in Niger Delta, neither produce a single drop of Oil, either a host to any pipeline in the Niger Delta to put out such demean disheartening, disgusting and unprintable insultive words to drag the personality of the revered Olu Of Warri Kingdom, who is a peaceful initiator, major unifier of different ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta.
“A job provider, vanguard of peace building and development, and a foresighted monarch that is highly respected before the international communities with all sense of humility and humour to be described as a non stakeholder in the Niger Delta region and went as far as calling for the Revocation of the Olu Of Warri portion of the pipeline surveillance contract Job being operated by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited PINL, Company in the region.
“It is not surprised to us for Ozobo who is a jobless fellow that is roaming about in Warri environs searching for daily survival, we know very well that Mr Ozobo will always do anything possible to protect his cup of tea, as far as it pleases his paymasters no matter who’s ox is gored, therefore we are not surprised at these outbost, but it is unfortunate and uncalled for, for such disheartening diminishing, disrespectful and provocative comments, for him to carelessly put out a blackmailing insultive and derogatory Statement, which he had the guts to call for the Revocation of the Olu Of Warri portion of the pipeline surveillance contract Job being operated by Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) and referred the Olu Of Warri Kingdom to a non-stakeholder in the Niger Delta that not supposed to benefit from the pipeline surveillance contract in the region.
“But the ex militant leaders adviced him to refrain from using such unwarranted unreasonable poor senseless insightful carless and demean comments not to be channeled to the revered Olu Of Warri Kingdom any longer in other to do him a good, if not he will be smoked out and pay dearly for such irritating comments, online and social media space henceforth.”
The Militant group want to know, what really prompt Mr Austin Ozobo for making such careless comments and unfounded facts about His Imperial Majesty on social media? That the Olu is not a stakeholder in the Niger Delta as such he is not supposed to benefit in the pipeline surveillance contract job in the region? The painful aspect of it all is that, Mr Ozobo also went far as to alleged that it was Tompolo who single handedly fought hard to secure these multi-million dollar pipeline surveillance contract job.”
” And that the Olu is just a beneficiary to it, as such he is calling for the Revocation of the Olu Of Warri portion of the pipeline surveillance contract. This statement is condemnable, highly insultive, discriminative and disrespectful to the Itsekiri Nation as one of the highest crude oil producing Ethnic tribes in the Niger Delta, and to the Olu’s personality and the throne.”
“And the fellow who call himself an activist and whose Community does not have a single drop of crude oil not to talk of host to any oil facilities and pipeline Infrastructure in the Niger Delta, now have the guts, the temerity and the audacity to call for the revocation of the portion of the pipeline surveillance contract that is being by the Olu Of Warri.”
“And also referred the Olu Of Warri to some set of misguided elements in the region who take pride in threatening their fellow ethnic tribes with oppressive methods to always wanting to hijack everything to themselves for every given opportunity in the region.”
“These is an abomination and a sacrilege before us, and he will not go scott free for those insultive derogatory Statements.If you Ozobo refuses to discontinue and retrace your footsteps from such act, we will be left with no option than to declare you wanted and you will be used as escape goat, a word is enough for the wise.”
The group clarified that, “It is good we should use this opportunity to educate the general public, including Ozobo who has played the script of his paymaster and for reference point.
“We want the presidency, Nigerians and Niger Deltans to know that, the revered Imperial Majesty OGIAME ATUWATSE III (CFR) the Olu Of Warri Kingdom is the host to the largest bulk of Oil and Gas facilities in the Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State that is host to Chevron Nigeria Limited and other major oil companies, and host to the Trans Escravos Warri Kaduna NNPC major delivery pipeline, the same time, the Olu Of Warri is host to most of the NNPC/NPDC/Shell Nigeria Limited and Chevron Nigeria Limited Oil facilities under Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State”.
“The same thing applicable to Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, the Olu Of Warri is also host to a major part in the OML30 Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP) that is 48 inch line that cut across over 1,11 communities that is being operated by Shell/NNPC/Heritage Company from the Forcados terminal.”
“It is also imperative to point out that the Itsekiri tribe in which the Olu Of Warri is their revered monarch is the largest crude oil producing tribe in Delta State and also the Olu Of Warri contribute a large portion of the over 1.2 to 1.6 million barrels of crude oil daily production output to the Federation that is being shared as revenue to the 36 States and Fct with the 774 Local Government Areas of the country. ”
“Lastly, Mr Austin Ozobo should wake up from slumber and ignorance about the Tompolo pipeline surveillance contract job that is being operated by Tantita Security Company. The total amount of $370,807,173.00 annually and not N4 billion that is falsely spread in the public domain to deceive and blind fold timid people like Ozobo who are naysayers that is under their payroll with peanuts.”
“Mr Ozobo and the general public should know that, the above Trans Niger Pipeline (TFP) surveillance contract was awarded to the tune of over ($1. 3billion dollar) which is over N1.trillion naira, and it was shared into three portion, Eastern corridor, Western corridor and Central corridor, and the Western corridor was awarded to Tompolo’s Tantita Security Company at the total sum of $370,807,173.00, in dollars therefore Mr Austin Ozobo and his fellow disgruntled and misguided elements who are naysayers in the region should wake up from slumber and open their eyes, and never again appoint accusing fingers to the Olu Of Warri henceforth’’ the Militant group warned.

Former Kano State governor and 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has revealed that one of his daughters encouraged him to collaborate with former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during the 2023 general election.

Kwankwaso made the disclosure on Monday while speaking on Prime Time, a programme on Arise Television.
According to him, many political leaders in Nigeria have failed to understand the mindset, concerns, and aspirations of young Nigerians, especially in the era of social media.
He explained that younger Nigerians are more interested in competent and effective leadership than the ethnic and religious sentiments that often dominate political discussions among older politicians.
“So many things have changed in this country. You have leaders, many of whom don’t even realize what is happening on social media. We have leaders who hardly have any contact with young men and women,” Kwankwaso said.
“People of our age, my age, or especially the age of Atiku, are very few in this country compared to the younger people. The younger people have their own way of thinking, even our children.”
The former Kano governor stated that even within his family, younger members expressed opinions that reflected a desire for political cooperation and better leadership.
“You will be surprised, even during the 2023 election, in my own house, my own daughter was telling me to go and work with Peter Obi,” he said.
“She didn’t say she was obedient, but she wanted me to work together with him, and vice versa.”
Kwankwaso added that while many older politicians remain focused on religion and ethnicity, young Nigerians are more concerned about credible leadership and national progress.
“So you see, there is a lot happening in this country, but people at that level we are talking about don’t even understand,” he stated.
“People are talking about religion. People are talking about ethnicity. People are talking, especially those at our level and age, but the younger people are looking for the right leadership for this country. And I think they are absolutely right.”

Uba Sani has dismissed reports of a major crisis within the Progressive Governors’ Forum, describing the recent disagreement among members as a minor misunderstanding.

Sani made the remarks on Monday during an appearance on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.
Reports had emerged last week claiming that Hope Uzodimma was removed as chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and replaced by Peter Mbah following a tense meeting in Abuja.
The reports also alleged that the forum had split into rival factions. While Uzodimma insisted he remained chairman, another bloc was reportedly aligned with Dapo Abiodun and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
However, governors loyal to Uzodimma later passed a vote of confidence in him during a meeting held at the Imo State Lodge in Abuja. President Bola Tinubu was also said to have intervened in the dispute.
Reacting to the controversy, Sani, who serves as vice chairman of the forum, maintained that no leadership change had taken place.
“At the moment, there’s no problem. All the governors are together. His Excellency Hope Uzodimma is the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum,” he said.
“My humble self, Senator Uba Sani, is the vice chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum.”
The Kaduna governor stated that disagreements are normal in a democratic setting and should not be blown out of proportion.
“In my own opinion, I don’t think it’s a serious issue, like many people try to make it look like it’s a very serious issue,” he said.
“Because, you know, in everything we are talking about democracy, people can choose to disagree and agree. So, in my own opinion, it was just a slight misunderstanding.”
Sani assured party supporters that the matter had been resolved and dismissed speculation of any division within the forum.
“I don’t think you will hear anything again. I can assure you, you can’t hear anything again,” he stated.
“It’s just a slight disagreement, not a serious issue, but a slight disagreement. But it has been resolved.”
He further added that if there had truly been a leadership change, he would have automatically assumed office as chairman in his capacity as vice chairman.
“And of course, if there’s any change of leadership, sitting here as the vice chairman, I could have taken over,” he said.
“But I can tell you, I was there. And I was the one who made that statement clear that we are united. Everything is okay.”

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has warned opposition parties against zoning the 2027 presidential ticket to the South, arguing that such a decision could make it easier for President Bola Tinubu to secure re-election.
In a statement released by his camp, Atiku maintained that fielding another southern candidate against a sitting southern president would be politically ineffective and unsupported by Nigeria’s democratic history.
According to the statement, opposition leaders should concentrate on forming a strong and united coalition capable of defeating the ruling party rather than making what it described as emotional or symbolic political choices.
Atiku’s camp questioned how a southern opposition candidate could realistically defeat a southern incumbent president.
“At the core of the question is: how does a Southern opposition candidate realistically unseat a sitting Southern president?” the statement read.
It further argued that Nigeria’s political history offers no example of such an outcome, warning that insisting on that strategy could amount to entering the election already defeated.
The statement added that if opposition parties insist on zoning the presidency to the South, they might as well allow Tinubu to seek re-election unchallenged by a rival candidate from the same region.
According to Atiku’s camp, such a strategy lacks the political strength, national spread, and electoral advantage needed to unseat an incumbent president.
The former vice president’s camp also criticised supporters of southern zoning, describing their position as “intellectually dishonest” and disconnected from present political realities.
“Defeating an incumbent president requires realism, not romanticism; strategy, not sentiment; honesty, not selective memory,” the statement added.
It urged opposition politicians to decide whether their focus is on making symbolic political statements or genuinely winning power in the 2027 election.
The statement stressed that opposition politics should be driven by practical electoral calculations and broad national coalition-building rather than emotional considerations.
On the issue of fairness and power rotation, Atiku’s camp argued that by 2027, the South would have spent more years in power than the North during Nigeria’s current democratic dispensation.
According to the statement, the South would have occupied the presidency for 18 years, while the North would have held power for only 10 years within the same period.
“It becomes difficult to understand the justice in an argument that seeks to deepen an already existing imbalance under the guise of equity,” the statement noted.
The camp also accused some supporters of southern zoning of selective memory, recalling that many of them backed former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2011 despite calls at the time for power to return to the North.
“It is intellectually dishonest for those who supported a Southern presidency in 2011 to now posture as custodians of rotational justice,” the statement said.
While acknowledging the Southeast’s aspiration to produce Nigeria’s president, Atiku’s camp criticised what it described as “transactional political bargaining” and “symbolic tokenism.”
The statement warned against political arrangements allegedly aimed at satisfying personal ambitions without creating a genuine and sustainable pathway for the Southeast to attain power.
“Principles do not become sacred only when they align with personal ambition,” the statement concluded.
It urged opposition parties and stakeholders to focus on building a broad-based national alliance capable of defeating Tinubu in 2027 rather than becoming distracted by divisive zoning debates.
