Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), adamantly asserts that he cannot be subjected to trial in any Nigerian court. His declaration follows Justice Binta Nyako’s dismissal of the defense’s argument that the Supreme Court’s ruling implied his earlier bail should not have been revoked.
In defense, Kanu’s lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, contended that the Supreme Court’s decision indicated the unjust nature of Kanu’s bail revocation. However, Justice Nyako, upon scrutinizing the Supreme Court’s judgment, found no grounds supporting the defense’s assertion.
Reacting vehemently from the dock, Kanu vocalized his refusal to undergo trial in any Nigerian court. He argued that any attempt to prosecute him would constitute a breach of Nigeria’s Constitution and international laws.
