North Central Group Commends Federal Government’s Intervention in Plateau Attacks

The Plateau Humanitarian Vanguard, a social-cultural group in the North Central zone, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, for their prompt response to the recent attacks in Plateau State. The attacks occurred on Christmas Eve, resulting in over 100 casualties and the burning of about 221 houses in Bokkos and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas.

President Tinubu directed Edu to provide immediate humanitarian relief to the affected communities, and Edu, in collaboration with relevant agencies, distributed food and non-food relief materials to the victims. The group acknowledged the importance of such humanitarian interventions in alleviating the suffering caused by the attacks.

While recognizing that no amount of humanitarian assistance can compensate for the lives lost, the group emphasized the significance of providing support to give the affected people a sense of belonging. The group also called for continued efforts to address the security situation, urging the security agencies, especially the military, to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure justice.

Additionally, the Plateau Humanitarian Vanguard called on international organizations, local groups, and well-meaning individuals to contribute to the welfare and well-being of displaced persons, emphasizing that the responsibility should not rest solely on the Federal Government.
