The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) is currently working on Journalism Enhancement bill.
The National President of the NUJ, Mr Chris Isiguzo, who was on a two-day working visit to Kwara state, disclosed this during a meeting with journalists in Ilorin, the state capital, adding that the bill would be presented to the National Assembly as soon as the final draft is ready.
The NUJ President said the propised bill when passed into law would go a long way in enhancing the welfare of journalists in the country.
Isiguzo, who stated that plans are in top gear to flush out quacks from the profession, disclosed that the union has commenced a data capturing process to ensure only those that are qualified are registered as journalists.
Admonishing members of the union to work together for the progress of the union, Isiguzo assured them of the determination of his leadership to make the practice of the profession a lot easier and attractive.
He also intimated members about the modest achievements so far recorded by his administration.
Kwara state NUJ Chairman Omar Abdulwahab lauded the National President for the visit, which he opined would boost the morale of his Council members, while assuring him of the support of Kwara Council members to his administration.
