Oluremi Tinubu Inaugurates Digital Economy Center and E-Learning Facilities in Oyo, Encourages Women’s Participation

Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of Nigeria’s president, played a significant role on Tuesday as she inaugurated a Digital Economy Center and E-learning facilities at Ogbomosho Girls High School. The First Lady emphasized the importance of women’s contributions to the digital revolution for national development and sought the active participation of Nigerian women.

Represented by the wife of Oyo State governor, Tamunominini Makinde, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the crucial role of technology in advancing gender equality. She stressed that empowering more women in the digital revolution would unlock their potential, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to the nation’s economic growth, innovation, and social progress.

The event was a collaborative effort between the Renewed Hope Initiative of President Tinubu and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). Mrs. Tinubu expressed the administration’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to education across the nation through initiatives like the Digital Economy Center.

She mentioned that the collaboration with NITDA under the National Digital Gender Inclusion Strategy aimed to provide support and equip more centers in various states. Mrs. Tinubu urged women to take advantage of continuous training, access, and exposure to technology, emphasizing the positive impact it can have on employment opportunities and entrepreneurial endeavors.

The Digital Economy Center was hailed as a demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and empowerment among women and girls. Mrs. Tinubu encouraged the beneficiaries to dream big, nurture their curiosity, and embrace continuous learning.

The principal of Ogbomosho Girls High School, Mrs. Zainab Odekunle, expressed gratitude for the project, noting that it would enhance the learning process for both teachers and students.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Head of Service (HOS), Mrs. Olubunmi Oni, Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Daud Sangodoyin, Commissioner for Education, Prof. Saliu Adelabu, Commissioner for Special Duties, Alhaja Faosat Sanni, and Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Toyin Balogun, among others.
