OPCI President to Gani Adams: Stop Maligning People For Personal Gains

By Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin

The National President of the Oodua Progressive Care Initiative (OPCI), Chief (Dr.) Maruff Olarewaju, has blamed the Tsunami disaster waves currently rocking the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) on bad leadership of its national leader, Aare Gani Adams.

The OPCI National President, who accused Aare Gani Adams of cunningly becoming OPC leader in 1999, said the crisis rocking the OPC was a result of his bad character and leadership style.

He said: “Accusing people of collecting money from politicians by Gani Adams has been in his blood for long. Recall that he accused the late Dr. Fredrick Fasheun of collecting million’s of Naira from former President Olusegun Obasanjo which led to crisis and factionalisation of OPC till tomorrow. Most of the Coordinators and some of his aides left him and the OPC because of all these baseless and unfounded allegation by him.

“Gani Adams is supposed to be a kind of person that learned a lot from history but surprisingly reverse is the case. He whoever fails to learn from history is doomed to commit the same blunders over and over.

“Gani Adams is a product of circumstance and violence, his name became a household through crisis, I think by now he should have stopped to destroy people for his personal gain.

“The ongoing crisis within the outlawed organisation (OPC) attested to a kind of leader Gani Adams is. It’s no more news that about four principals of his OPC were expelled by him. They are the Osun State Coordinator, Oyo state Coordinator and head of his monitoring unit that he accused of being loyal and collecting money from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (the Nigerian President Elect).

“One continues to wonder what Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done wrong to Adams, for somebody who is running from Pillar to Post claiming he is fighting for Yoruba and promoting Yoruba culture as he claimed to be. Why is he always antagonising Yoruba?
Aare Gani Adams needs to be properly examined because I have never seen a leader destroying people around himself and he is happy and thinking he will survive it.

“I hereby call on legitimate Yoruba sons and daughters to give Gani Adams and his group close monitoring on Nigerian newly president elect.”
