Operate Within the Ambit of Your Profession, Health Workers Told

The need for health workers to adhere to the ethics and norms of their profession has again been stressed by the Project Coordinator of Nigeria States Health Investment, Mr. Adamu Ohageyi.
Ohageyi gave the advice at refresher training for Medical Superintendents and Heads of Primary Health Care Centres in the state held at Akwanga recently.
He appealed to participants at the training to collaborate with one another towards improvement of healthcare service delivery n the state.
Mr. Ohageyi remained all Superintendents of General Hospitals and Heads of Primary Healthcare for the needs to make immediate referrals of patients whose illness cannot be managed by PHCs, calling on the Medical Superintendents to give such referrals desired attention.
Speaking further, he advised them to strictly follow up such referrals to General Hospitals for reference and record purposes.
On her part, the state Chairperson, Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Mrs Janet Angbazo told the health workers to see the NSHIP Performance Based Financing Intervention as the Nasarawa state project.
“This is not World Bank project where some of you would not attach more seriousness to work, Nigeria State Health Investment Project is more of a system conceptualized to strengthen the existing health system with emphasis on financial output”, he said.
She also called on the officers in charge of PHCs and Medical Superintendents to work extra miles for the successes and sustenance of the project in the state.
In his contribution, the lead facilitator who is also a Result Based Financing Technical Specialist, Dr. Joseph Atanga Shu called on the PHC coordinators, Medical Superintendents of General Hospitals and Heads of Primary Health facilities to ensure treatment of illnesses in line with standard practices in their respective hospitals.
He advocated the need for the Directors of Health to monitoring and evaluation officers and Hospitals Management Board to study carefully the PHC and General Hospitals’ quality assessment for standard practice
