Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) Unfazed Ahead of Must-Win Game Against Dortmund – Coach Luis Enrique

By Milcah Tanimu

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique expressed confidence and dismissed pressure ahead of their crucial Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund. PSG needs a victory in Germany to secure progress to the knockout stages and avoid dropping into the Europa League, a scenario unprecedented since the Qatari takeover in 2011.

Enrique, who won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, shrugged off concerns about his position, emphasizing that dealing with pressure is inherent when involved with a big club. He described the upcoming match as a final and acknowledged the challenge of facing a strong opponent.

While Dortmund has already secured a place in the knockout stage, they aim to finish as group winners to ensure a more favorable last-16 draw. PSG, on the other hand, must win, and if they draw or lose, they would need Newcastle and Milan to share points in their match to avoid early elimination.

Despite PSG’s recent success in Ligue 1, winning their past eight matches, they have faced challenges in the Champions League, losing both away fixtures this season. Enrique emphasized that their fate is in their hands and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to win the crucial game. Defender Marquinhos echoed this sentiment, stating that these moments are what define football and that the team has the character to make history.
