PDP Ward Congresses: Chairmanship Aspirant seeks level playing field

Ahead of the Saturday Ward Congresses of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) across the country, a Chairmanship Aspirant of the party in Kwara State, Alhaji Olanrewaju Okanlawon, has urged elders and leaders of the party to create a level playing field for all the contestants into the various offices.

This, he noted, would ensure party cohesion and oneness of members at the end of the exercise.

While urging all party members to continue to have abiding faith in the party and guide against infiltration by the opposition, the Aspirant cautioned against any form of faction or division in the party.

Alhaji Okanlawon gave the admonition in Ilorin, the state capital, in a statement by his media campaign office.

According to him, PDP is a party that has a recognised and a responsible leader in the state in person of the former Senate President and Party Presidential hopeful, Dr. Bukola Saraki, hence the need for members to be upright and disciplined while seeking party offices.

He said: “I implore members and elders of the party not to allow intruders and those who do not have genuine love of the party to infiltrate them since we all believe in the party’s leadership structure.

“I commend the national leadership of the party and that of the state for the online electronic registration of existing and intending members of the party which will be conducted across all wards in the country.

“I therefore appeal to all bona fide members of the party, including new members to come out enmass and participate in the exercise. The massive turnout for the online registration is key to the success of the party during the 2023 general elections. Also, the exercise will allow for accurate membership data and aid youth inclusiveness.”

Alhaji Okanlawo reminded party faithful in the state that the Local Government congress would also hold on 5th October, 2021, while that of state is scheduled for October 16, 2021 and the National one for between 13th and 31st, October and therefore urged them to fully participate in all the exercises so as to ensure victory for the party in 2023.
