Vice President Kashim Shettima has invited the Presidential nominees of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, and Allied Peoples Movement’s Chichi Ojei to collaborate with the Tinubu administration for the betterment of Nigeria.

“After the tribunal’s decision, I reach out to Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, urging them to collaborate with us in creating a prosperous Nigeria,” Shettima remarked, following the unanimous decision of the five-member Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal to affirm Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25th election.

Justice Haruna Tsammani, who headed the panel, stated in his verdict that the challenge lacked merit and confirmed Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s rightful election as President. The cost implications were to be shouldered by the respective parties.

Subsequent to this, the remaining four justices consistently rejected the objections raised by Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi against Tinubu’s presidency, as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission on March 1, 2023.

During the extensive 12-hour session, the court turned down the consolidated petitions on various bases, including their absence of substance.

Shettima encouraged all parties to set aside their differences and focus on nation-building, emphasizing, “It’s a moment for unity. We need to come together for the greater good of our country.”
