Ramadan: Assist the less privileged, APC chieftain urges wealthy Muslims

By Steve Oni, Ilorin

As Muslims the world over commenced Ramadan fast, a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has called on well-to-do Muslims in the country to deploy their wealth for the purpose of alleviating the suffering of the people, particularly the downtrodden.

He said the deployment of such wealth especially at this trying period of lockdown becomes imperative in view of the hardship many citizens, especially Muslims are grappling with amid the ravaging coronavirus pandemic.

In a statement issued in Ilorin through the Media office of his Non Governmental Organization, Saliu Mustapha Foundation, the APC chieftain admonished Muslims to use the sacred month to seek Allah’s forgiveness for their sins and that of the nation.

He particularly told Muslims the world over to leverage on the bounty available in the month of Ramadan to pray to Allah for an end to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former APC governorship aspirant in Kwara State noted that the pandemic had humbled both the rich and the poor around the world with a strong warning that wealth, quest for luxury and power are meaningless, if not deployed according to Allah’s will.

Mustapha asked Muslims to use the holy month to draw closer to the Allah and allow the teachings and lessons of Qur’an and sayings of the Hadith reflect in their dealings.

“The sacred month of Ramadan is here again. We thank the Almighty Allah for sparing our lives, especially Muslims to be counted among the living souls in spite of the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

“To say it is a challenging time for all of us, particularly Muslim faithful, is the least. The coronavirus pandemic has also increased the spate of hardship among our people. We therefore use this medium to appeal to the rich Muslims to deploy their wealth in alleviating the suffering of the people”, the APC chieftain said.
