Rotary, La Buena Vida feed 500 families in Abuja

The Rotary Club of Apo in collaboration with La Buena Vida on Tuesday distributed food items to 500 families in Abuja as part of efforts to alleviate poverty in the FCT.

Miss Annmarie Adamu, President, Rotary Club of Apo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the project was part of the club’s humanitarian service targeted at the less privileged in the society.

She said that the project tagged “Feed the Family Project” is in its third edition with more families benefiting.

“This project is in collaboration with our partners, La Buena Vida and it is aimed at feeding 500 families in the Apo-Dutse community of Abuja.

“This is part of our efforts to alleviate hunger, improve health and enhance humanity,” she said.

Earlier, Mr Matthew Ossai, Project Chairman, Rotary Club of Apo said the project represents part of Rotary’s 3Hs goals of addressing Health, Hunger and Humanitarian services.

He said that the Club worked closely with the Primary Health Care Centre, Apo-Dutse to pick the 500 beneficiaries of the project from the communities in the area.

Ossai pledged Rotary’s commitment to continue to work with relevant stakeholders to enhance human, cultural and social development of Nigerians.

Mrs Cynthia Idoko, one of the beneficiaries, thanked Rotary for the gesture while calling for more attention for social amenities in the community.

NAN reports that some of the items distributed include rice, groundnut oil and condiments.
