Chairman Senate committee on Army, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume led other members of the committee to the Army Headquarters on oversight visit, where he promised to intercede for the Armed Forces in area of funding.
The committee was received on arrival by the Chief of Army Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, who also promised to closely collaborate with the Senate.
The duo spoke at interaction at the Army headquarters, wherein, , Senator Ndume who represents Borno South senatorial district in the Senate assured the Chief of Army staff that his committee is ever ready to give the Army all the necessary budgetary support, so as to adequately tackle all forms of criminality across the country.
He stated that Nigerians are eager to see practical changes on the issue of insecurity. The committee also uses the opportunity to congratulate the Chief of Army staff over his appointment and that of his other principal staff officers.
In his response, the Chief of Army staff Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru assured the committee of their readiness to work with the National assembly so as to enable them address the issue of insecurity in the country. He thank the committee for the support they gave him during his screening by the Nigeria Senate.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of souvenirs to Sen Ndume as a mark of appreciation for his positive contribution to the Nigeria Army.
