Taraba Killings Require Urgent  Military Action -Rep

Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP)and member Representing Lau/Karim Lamido/ Ardo Kola federal constituency of Taraba State, Mr. Danladi Baido has condemned the incessant attacks on communities and killings in his state describing the situation as criminal.

Baido was reacting to the recent attacks on Sabongida Kpasimbe and Manya communities in Takum Local Government Area of the state among others.
 
In a press statement issued by his Media Assistant, Mr. Anthony Maliki on Monday, Baido said the gunmen attack on two communities where hundreds of people fled for safety to Nyivu in Donga Local Government Area crossing River Donga was wicked and barbaric.

The Representative who expressed deep worry over the incident which according to him had become a recurring situation in the state and sympathise with the victims’ families, called on the federal government to, as a matter of urgency, draft adequate military personnel to the area before the situation gets out of hands.

He also condemned the recent attack in Takum Local Government Area where about 21 communities were sacked, saying the present government in the state has failed to protect lives and property of its people.

The governorship candidate disclosed that about 120, 000 people were displaced and scores killed as a result of bandits attack since January this year around some local governments in southern part of Taraba State.

Baido who further pointed out that the people are no longer safe going to their farms for fear of being attacked and would lead to food shortages, regretted that only last week, parts of Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, were attacked leading to the unfortunate death of some people in Mile six, Lassandi, and CBN areas while a medical doctor with the Federal Medical Centre, was attacked in his house behind the Catholic Pastoral Centre at Dinyavu.

He said with these attacks, citizens no longer have confidence in the government and security agencies protecting them, saying if the state capital will be so freely attacked, then no one is safe. He called on security agencies to diligently carry out their duties of protecting the people.

Nationa Trail recall that scores have been killed, including military personnel, and thousands displaced from communities mostly in Southern Taraba where armed herdsmen have been attacking villages and killing people on their farms and roads.
