In Abuja, Nasir Idris was sentenced to 15 months in prison by the Dei-Dei Grade I Area Court for stealing a fan and praying mat from a mosque. However, the court offered Idris the option to pay a N50,000 fine instead.

The prosecution, led by Mr. Chinedu Ogada, informed the court that Ali Zuma apprehended Idris on March 17 and handed him over to the police in Zuba, also located in the FCT. According to Ogada, Idris unlawfully entered the Dei-Dei mosque and stole the fan and mat but was caught red-handed.

During the investigation, Idris confessed to the crime and revealed that he had previously been imprisoned twice for theft.

Idris pleaded guilty to the charge and pleaded for leniency from the court.

In delivering the verdict, Judge Saminu Suleiman cautioned Idris to refrain from criminal activities and maintain good conduct in the future.
