Tinubu is a Team player , Says Gov Eno

Despite being a member of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has expressed optimism that Nigeria was on the right track of economic recovery and growth under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, noting that his style of leadership devoid of party politics has foster cordial relationships in the polity for seamless development programmes to thrive.
Governor Eno said this while receiving a delegation from the Ministry of Niger Delta Development led by the Minister, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, who paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Uyo, the state capital.
He lauded President the for what he described as inclusive disposition to governance, explaining that the President has demonstrated governance beyond party lines.
He congratulated Engr. Momoh on his appointment as Minister of Niger Delta Development, saying that the slight delay in announcing a Minister for the Ministry had caused agitations among the people of the region.
The Governor said that the Minister’s visit to States of the region, particularly Akwa Ibom, was apt, and explained that the development plans of the Ministry were already integral in his ‘Arise Agenda’ development manual of his administration.
He said: “I feel very happy that you really want to see for yourself, the situation of our states and the people you are going to work with, get to meet the governors and look beyond politics and think of how to develop our various states in partnership with the Governors.
“I will like to thank the approach of the President for his inclusivity in governance and it is a very welcome approach that this President is working with people across party lines.You can see his appointment, there are people of other parties there.
“You could see the things he is doing. He wants to carry everyone along. I always believed that party is a platform to seek election to serve our people. And once God has given us the opportunity which only him can do, next is to collaborate and serve the people.”
He expressed reservation over the poor presence of the federal government projects in the State despite her enormous contributions to the nation’s revenue base.
Governor Eno, therefore, advocated regular meetings of the leadership of the Ministry with State governments of the region to explore best ways to approach the peculiar development needs of the area, avoid duplicity and conflicts in project execution, even as he reassured of his administration’s commitments to collaborate for the betterment of the State.
“I am proposing a regular meeting between the Niger Delta Ministry, the Niger Delta Development Commission, the Government and Governors of the Niger Delta regions.
“If we have that meeting regularly , we will be able to work with you, we will be able to come to that meeting and discuss issues together as Niger Delta States, and sit with you and speak with one voice, and we will be able to know the challenges facing the people.
“We will be able to know how to help approach Mr. President and you will be to tell us the things you can do and the things you can not do. We will be able to have collaborations between our states and the Niger Delta Ministry,” he stressed .
The Minister of Niger Delta Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, said his visit to the state was part of his tour of the region to seek synergy with state governors to garner full support from the federal government to expedite development in the Niger Delta region and expressed delight over the warm reception accorded him in the state, pledging to ensure cooperation with the Umo Eno led government.
Engr. Momoh identified insecurity and infrastructure deficit as the challenge of the region and stressed the need to do away with all sorts of counterproductive power play and conflicts to make room for needed cooperation and collaborations to tackle the problems.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain the status quo in a dispute over the party’s candidates emerging from the Benue State APC primaries for the 2027 general election.
The order was made on Thursday by Justice Inyang Ekwo during proceedings in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/1429/2026, filed by Engr. Sesugh Akaagba and other aggrieved APC candidates from Benue State against the APC and INEC.
The plaintiffs had, through an ex parte motion filed on July 5, 2026, sought six interim reliefs, including an order restraining the APC from substituting its validly nominated candidates in Benue State through its June 29, 2026 correspondence, or any subsequent communication, to INEC, pending determination of the substantive suit.
They also sought an order compelling the APC to immediately transmit to INEC the names of candidates validly nominated during the primaries monitored by the electoral commission.
When the matter first came up on July 8, 2026, the court declined to grant the interim application immediately, directing both APC and INEC to appear and respond before any decision was taken. The matter was adjourned to July 16.
At Thursday’s proceedings, counsel representing the APC and INEC were present in court, while the plaintiffs were represented by Mohammed Ndarani, SAN, alongside his legal team.
In his ruling, Justice Ekwo held that since issues had been joined by the parties particularly with INEC now before the court, the defendants were required by law to preserve the subject matter of the litigation pending determination of the substantive suit.
When counsel to the plaintiffs urged the court to caution APC and INEC against taking any further action that could affect the disputed list of candidates, the judge responded that it was “not a matter of advice but of law,” stressing that the defendants were bound to maintain the status quo.
The court consequently restrained APC and INEC from taking any action capable of altering the disputed list of candidates pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
The defendants did not object to the restraining order.
At the commencement of proceedings, the court noted that all parties had voluntarily submitted to its jurisdiction by duly filing and exchanging their respective processes.
It held that there was no procedural or jurisdictional impediment to the expeditious determination of the substantive action, and directed that the matter be heard without further delay.
In furtherance of the objective of preserving the res and safeguarding the efficacy of the judicial process, the court ordered all parties to maintain the status quo pending the hearing and final determination of the substantive suit, restraining any act or omission capable of prejudicing the rights of the parties or rendering the proceedings nugatory.
The court further directed that INEC be served forthwith with the originating and all consequential processes.
The effect of the subsisting order is that INEC is restrained from tampering with the existing list of candidates pending final determination of the suit, and from receiving, recognising, or acting upon any purported substituted list of National Assembly candidates from Benue State submitted by the APC.
The matter was adjourned to July 21, 2026, for hearing of the substantive suit.
