President Bola Tinubu has voiced his commitment to forging new partnerships with global technology firms to ensure the accuracy and transparency of data from public institutions. These efforts aim to establish a foundation for effective public sector planning across various sectors.
During a meeting with Oracle’s Global Vice President, Andres Garcia Arroyo, in Abuja, President Tinubu expressed his support for Oracle’s involvement in Nigeria’s civil service reform and data management sector. He underscored the importance of knowledge transfer by advocating for the establishment of academies and training institutions within the country.
President Tinubu’s objectives include promoting a conducive environment for doing business, fostering digital innovation, implementing effective identity management, ensuring efficient payroll administration, and delivering high-quality citizen-centric services. He referenced Oracle’s successful automation of the Lagos payroll system during his tenure as governor, which improved accountability and streamlined service delivery timelines without compromising quality.
Addressing concerns about the bloated civil service payroll at both national and sub-national levels, President Tinubu emphasized the need for technological solutions to monitor and manage transaction processes more effectively. He expressed his willingness to collaborate with Oracle, citing his confidence in the company’s ability to replicate past successes.
In response, the Oracle representative proposed a comprehensive digital transformation of federal-level jobs. This transformation aims to enhance macro-economic visibility, simplify government processes to achieve cost and time savings, and provide valuable skills development opportunities for Nigerians.
