On Wednesday, the Lagos State Police Command presented 72-year-old tractor driver, Isiaka Abdullahi, in Yaba Magistrates’ Court, accusing him of causing a staggering N320m damage at the Mile 13 Owode Elede Market in Ikorodu. He is charged with severely damaging the assets and goods of two traders, Garba Mohammed and Adewale Teluwo.
The incident reportedly transpired in December 2022. The prosecution, led by ASP Amedu Adoga, cited multiple violations according to the 2015 Criminal Laws of Lagos State. Specifically, Abdullahi is said to have destroyed property worth N300m belonging to Teluwo and caused a N20m loss to Muhammed by ruining his banana stock.
Despite the grave allegations, Abdullahi maintained his innocence. The court, presided over by Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, granted him a N5m bail. The hearing has been scheduled for November 20, 2023.
