Twelve Feared Dead in Bandit Attack at Kaduna Market

Tragedy struck the Maro Junction market in Maro Ward, Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State as twelve traders are feared dead following a brazen attack by bandits in broad daylight. The incident occurred at approximately 3:45 pm on Wednesday, catching traders and villagers off guard during their routine activities.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bandits stormed the market, opening fire indiscriminately and causing multiple casualties, primarily among male traders who were left lying in pools of blood. Mr. Reuben Maro, a community leader, confirmed the horrifying incident, revealing that the injured victims were rushed to Royal Hospital and General Hospital, Kachia, for urgent medical attention.

Describing the ordeal, Maro recounted the chilling moments of hearing gunshots echoing through the market and witnessing youths rushing to the scene, only to be met with the tragic aftermath. While no kidnappings were reported during the attack, the swift arrival of soldiers after the bandits fled did little to mitigate the devastation, with approximately twelve people left critically injured.

According to Maro, the bandits seemed to have emerged from the Banin Kanwa forest, underscoring the vulnerability of the area to such brazen assaults. Efforts to gather more details from the Divisional Police Officer were fruitless, though ASP Mansir Hassan, the state Police Public Relations Officer, assured that additional information would be provided once available.
