Two killed, six kidnapped, others injuried by suspected Herdsmen in Enugu

Two yet-to-be identified young men have been reportedly shot dead, two others injured by suspected herdsmen along Nsude-Obioma Road in Udi local government area of Enugu state.

The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the gun wielding men reportedly jumped out from bush and tried stopping a Highlander driver heading towards Nsude in a bid to have him kidnapped.

According to an eyewitness, the yet to be identified young man was shot dead immediately the gunmen noticed he won’t stop.

Reports says about 6 passengers were kidnapped at the spot, while others sustained various degrees of injuries.

However, a member of the community who spoke on the condition of anonymity said;This is a story of one so many, everyday we the people of Nsude and Obioma wake up with news of kidnaps and killings just a stone throw away from home.”

“On the boundary between Nsude and Obioma just in front of the Community Secondary School Obioma. Sporadic gun shots are heard every now and then.”

“The young man driving a Highlander was shot dead in a bid to stop him and get him kidnapped, but unfortunately the bullet hit his head while other cars on the road scampered for safety about 6 other road users were also kidnapped.”

“The young boy who was at the St. Mary’s Anglican church field playing football at that time and was hit by a bullet that was aimed at road users and some how found it’s way over a mile away to kill the innocent boy, this is very very painful.”

“All these happen in broad day light. Though there’s a police post there but abandoned.” he added.

When contacted, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe is yet to confirm the incident as at the time of filling this report.
