Gunmen have killed a 300-level student in an ambush attack in Plateau State.
The incident occurred late Monday night in Dum Village, Bachi District of Riyom Local Government Area, where the attackers reportedly laid in wait at the entrance of the community before opening fire on two young men.
The victim, identified as Badung Sunday Alamba, a 29-year-old student of Federal University of Education, Pankshin, was killed during the нападение. He was said to be his mother’s only child.
A community member, Mr. Dung Elisha, described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the deceased’s companion, Dachomo Habila, narrowly escaped despite being targeted by the assailants.
The killing was confirmed by Berom Youth Moulders Association spokesperson, Rwang Tengwong, who condemned the attack as a “premeditated and barbaric assault on innocent civilians.”
Tengwong alleged that such attacks have increasingly targeted peaceful communities in Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and Jos South local government areas, and called on security agencies to launch a thorough investigation and bring those responsible to justice.

Tinubu’s Gesture to Obasanjo Sparks Reactions from Nigerians
By: Fabian Apechihin
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has drawn widespread reactions after showing a gesture of respect to former President Olusegun Obasanjo during a recent visit to Ogun State.
The moment occurred at the Gateway International Cargo Airport, where Obasanjo joined other dignitaries to receive the president ahead of an inauguration ceremony.
In a video shared by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Tinubu was seen slightly bowing as he greeted Obasanjo, a gesture many interpreted as a sign of humility and cultural respect.
The clip quickly went viral, with Nigerians taking to social media to commend the president’s conduct, especially given the long-standing political differences between the two leaders.
Several commenters praised the act, describing Tinubu as respectful and well-grounded. Others linked the gesture to Yoruba cultural values, which emphasize respect for elders and the “Omoluabi” principle of good character.
During the visit, Tinubu also commissioned the cargo airport, inaugurated two new aircraft for Gateway Air, and unveiled a new Federal Operations Unit facility for the Nigeria Customs Service, alongside handing over operational vehicles to the agency.
