Vinicius Tobais Announces Departure from Real Madrid After Two Seasons

Brazilian right-back Vinicius Tobais has declared the end of his tenure with Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid after two seasons.

Vinicius Tobais began his professional career at Brazilian club Sport Club Internacional on July 1, 2021. He then moved to Europe, joining Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on January 16, 2022, for a transfer fee of €6 million.

On April 1, 2022, Tobais transferred to Real Madrid on a loan deal from Shakhtar Donetsk, valued at €500,000. Throughout his two-year stint, he played for Real Madrid’s reserve team, RM Castilla, rather than the main squad.

Today, Tobais announced his departure from Real Madrid via Instagram. He is expected to return to Shakhtar Donetsk on June 30, 2024, unless he secures a new deal with another club.

The 20-year-old defender expressed his gratitude, writing, “It was two nice years of a lot of learning, experience, and growth. To the technical staff, directors, and colleagues, my eternal gratitude. Just thankful for the opportunity to wear this shirt. We’ll see you again, Madridistas. Thank you for everything. Hala Madrid!”

Tobais’ contract with Shakhtar Donetsk runs until June 30, 2026, but it is unlikely he will stay with the Ukrainian side until then.

In the recently concluded season, Tobais made one appearance for Real Madrid’s senior team in the Copa del Rey and played 21 matches for RM Castilla.
