“WASSCE 2024 Commences Amidst Praise for WAEC’s Digital Certificate Platform”

Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) in Nigeria, expressed satisfaction with the positive responses received from various stakeholders regarding the council’s digital certificate platform. Dr. Dangut made these remarks during a press briefing held at the WAEC office in Yaba, Lagos, where he also announced the commencement date for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.

The WASSCE for school candidates is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, and will run until June 24, 2024.

Addressing questions from journalists about the success of the digital certificate platform, Dr. Dangut stated, “The introduction of the digital certificate platform has significantly eased the process of result verification, access, sharing, and confirmation for stakeholders across the education sector. It has also facilitated the smooth processing of student admissions into tertiary institutions worldwide in record time.”

He went on to highlight the positive feedback received from stakeholders both within Nigeria and internationally, emphasizing the platform’s compliance with global standards for data protection and integrity.

Regarding the WASSCE 2024, Dr. Dangut assured stakeholders of WAEC’s readiness to conduct the examination. He specified that the examination period would span seven weeks and six days, from April 30 to June 24, 2024.

Dr. Dangut expressed gratitude to the Federal Ministry of Education, State Ministries of Education, Nigeria Police, other security agencies, and all stakeholders for their support and cooperation in ensuring the successful conduct of the examination. He concluded by reaffirming WAEC’s commitment to delivering credible examinations for Nigerian students and the public at large.
