Obadiah Mailafia, the embattled former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has giving notice of resignation to the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS.

According to him, he gave the institute one month’s notice from 18th August to 18th September when his resignation will take effect as he maintained that his resignation is for the best interest of everybody.
The directing staff of the prestigious institute said he had to resign because of ongoing killings in Southern Kaduna that is affecting his people.
Only recently the former CBN Deputy Governor has had to undergo series of interrogations in the hands of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Jos Office over his recent comments on the killings as well as the activities of Boko Haram terrorists as allegedly captured in a radio interview.
“I have resigned from NIPPS. Nobody asked me or pressurized me to resign. I did it on my own.
“I decided that I cannot continue working, with all my good conscience, when my people are continually being killed and genocide is being committed against my people”, he told newsmen.
According to him, “That was the reason I gave, and the management has accepted my resignation,” he added.
Mailafia, was a former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in the 2019 general elections was last Monday honoured another invitation by the Department of State Services (DSS) after the first encounter with the security agency who interrogated him over comments he made on radio, concerning Boko Haram and other terrorists.
Just on Monday also, he was billed to appear before the Nigeria police force, ostensibly for another round of interrogation on the same matter which he reportedly declined the invitation based on legal advice.
The radio interview generated a lot of attention as it allegedly had it that a serving governor from the northern part has commanding role in the activities of Boko Haram.
Even though no particular governor was named, the northern governors forum was quick to demand that he be investigated while a call for his sack at NIPSS was declared by a section of the people.
