The World Bank has promised to always identify Nigerians who distinguish themselves in assisting it’s efforts at eradicating poverty.
This was contained in a letter conveying a lifetime award of excellence confered on former NEPAD/UNDP Monitoring Project Adviser and former Senior Special Assistant to Nasarawa State Governor, Alhaji Idris Maiwada in Abuja.
A certificate to that effect was presented to the former adviser, at the end of CSDP in Abu ja last week, while the plaque was presented to the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs on his behalf. Maiwada has been supportive of Population activities as the state focal point officer for UNDP in Nasarawa state and also carried out Election monitoring assignments, heading state observer groups/ teams for the conduct of General Elections for NEPAD ,EU,UNDP,Fed INEC and many other intl organizations.
It stated that, since he came to Nasarawa state when he assumed the position of General Manager of the state world Bank Assisted CSDA(Community and social social Development Agency), he has been an outstanding partner in supporting activiies that improved the lives of citizens.
The award which was conveyed via the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Gajiya Sa’adiya Umar Farouk, depicted Maiwada Idris as a worthy ambassador of the UNDP and the EU in the fight against poverty.
Even as the Managing Director (Agric Division) of a private business initiative, AH 80 Global services Ltd based in Abuja,Idris deserves recognition by the World Bank.
Idris Maiwada who was presented with a plaque to commemorate the life time award told our correspondent, that, the award came to him as a pleasant surprise, coming after he has left office.
According to him, the award makes up for all the negative insinuations about him while he held sway, stressing that it will also inspire others who may be brought on board to do what he did.
