Army Dismisses Soldier in Borno For Raping 13 Year Old

A general court martial of the 7 division Opertion Lafiya Dole sitting in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on Wednesday sentenced Army Corporal, Aliyu Yukubu to five years imprisonment with dismissal from service on a two count charge of defilement and assault on 13 years old Innah Ameh Modu in Bama town.
Corporal Aliyu Yakubu who has been in detention following the allegation since 2018 was said to have forcibly defiled the 13 year old on July 1, 2018.
Earlier proceedings revealed that, Corporal Aliyu Yakubu, who obtained a leave to go for medical check up in Maiduguri on June 29, 2018 had on July 1, 2018 at about 7:00 am saw Innah Ameh Modu, a 13 year old Kanuri girl and dragged her to an uncompleted building where he defiled and assaulted her before leaving for Maiduguri and creating alibi that he was not on ground at the time of the incident.
However, the 13 year old was able to recognise him when he was recalled and brought for identification, following complaints by the mother of the defiled girl.
Brigadier General A. A Ekubi, the presiding judge and president of the court martial in Maiduguri, said Corporal Aliyu Yukubu who was serving with the 202 tank battalion in Bama, a soldier of the armoured corp was arraigned before the court martial since July 13, 2020 where his case has been followed until the judgment today.
Reading his judgement on the eight exhibits presented before the court Martial, Brigadier General Ekubi said, on count-one and two, which is the case of defilement and assault, the accused has been found guilty, and therefore, has the following judgement.
” On count one, the case of defilement, the accused has been found guilty and therefore, sentenced to five years imprisonment. On count two, the case of assault, the accused has been found guilty, and therefore, dismissed from service.” The pressing president of the court martial said.

Pius Akutah’s Alleged Fraud at Nigerian Shippers Council Uncovered
Investigations by Nigerian Concord Newspaper reveal that the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Shippers Council, Mr. Pius Akutah, has allegedly misappropriated public funds for a lavish lifestyle.
According to our findings, within months of assuming office, Akutah allegedly purchased a bulletproof SUV valued at approximately N850 million. In addition, he is reported to have acquired over twenty exotic SUVs for use as a convoy.
Akutah is also said to have acquired multiple high-value properties, including three in Abuja’s Maitama and Asokoro districts worth over N2 billion, and two in Lagos’ Banana Island valued at N1.8 billion. These acquisitions appear far beyond the scope of his official salary and allowances.
Further investigation suggests that Akutah may be using public funds to support political ambitions, including allegedly grooming militants across 23 local government areas in Benue State for a potential 2027 gubernatorial bid.
Staff of the Shippers Council reportedly claim that Akutah frequently accesses the council’s treasury without proper authorization. Some insiders have indicated that a petition will soon be filed with the EFCC, ICPC, and the Presidency to report his alleged misconduct.
