Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has attributed the economic hardships facing Nigerians to the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, lamenting that the country’s future was sold under his leadership.
Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony of 22 Special Advisers and heads of government agencies in Jos, Mutfwang criticized the economic legacy inherited by President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing the dire state of the economy.
Mutfwang highlighted the challenges of excessive money printing and pre-selling of crude oil, which he asserted contributed to the depreciation of the naira and the current food crisis plaguing the nation.
Expressing concern over potential riots due to food shortages, Mutfwang stressed the importance of prioritizing food security and announced plans to establish a special agro-processing zone in partnership with the African Development Bank.
Addressing the newly appointed officials, Mutfwang urged them to focus on sourcing funds for development projects, emphasizing the need for prudent financial management and collaboration to address longstanding issues such as violence and bloodshed in Plateau State.
Efforts to obtain a response from former Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, regarding the governor’s remarks were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
