Ahead of 2019 elections, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has reassured the people of the state that all ongoing capital projects embarked upon by his administration would be completed on schedule.
Governor Ahmed gave the assurance on Wednesday in Ilorin while speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting ongoing projects within the metropolis.
According to the governor, “this administration has made funds available for all projects through the Kwara Infrastructure Development Fund (IF-K) and expects the contractors to fast track the projects for public use”.
The governor, who expressed happiness over the state of all projects visited, promised continuous monitoring of projects with a view to getting value for money.
Governor Ahmed particularly charged the contractor handling the Garin Alimi Underpass to fast track the project and restore water supply to the area.
He also advised the contractor to make arrangements for periodic wetting of the area to reduce effect of dust on residents and commuters plying the area.
Governor Ahmed added that more rural roads would be given attention under the World Bank rural road projects to ease movement of agricultural produce.
At the Kwara State Secretariat phase two under construction, the Consultant in charge of the Project, Architect Kayode Makajuola disclosed that the project would be completed in April, this year.
Architect Makanjuoola who had earlier conducted the Governor round the project said the project is fifty percent completed.
The Consultant confirmed that the project is being funded accordingly by the state government.
Architect Makanjuola explained that the N1.1b project which commenced four months ago is being constructed according to specification.
At the Garin Alimi Underpass project, the Consultant in charge, Engineer Bashir Lawal said the project would be completed in April, this year.
Engineer Lawal added the establishment of Kwara State Infrastructure Development Fund (IF-K) had guaranteed timely release of fund for the project.
Also at the Egbejila – Asa Dam road, the Project Manager of the company handling the project, Engineer Sulaiman Musa disclosed that the 75-kilometre road is 45% completed.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Egbejila Community, Alhaji Abdulraheem Adebayo praised Governor Ahmed for addressing transportation challenges in the area.
