A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to resolve his ongoing dispute with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara. Speaking at a news conference in Lagos to mark his 79th birthday, George criticized both Wike’s actions and the PDP leadership for not addressing the issue.
George argued that Wike should not control the affairs of Rivers State from Abuja, particularly since he played a significant role in Fubara’s rise to power. He warned that Fubara should not be treated as a “slave” due to Wike’s influence.
He also questioned why the PDP leadership had failed to sanction Wike for instigating internal conflicts, and emphasized that no individual is bigger than the party. George noted that Wike had publicly threatened to destabilize other states, yet no action had been taken against him by either the PDP or the APC, which Wike now supports.
In his appeal to Wike, George advised him to “cool off” and put aside past grievances, stressing that it was crucial for the party’s future to prioritize unity and discipline. He reminded Wike that despite his past achievements, no one should undermine the PDP for personal gain.
