Actress Motilola Akinlami has taken to Instagram to accuse her senior colleague, Kunle Afod, of hindering her career progression in Nollywood by allegedly preventing producers from casting her in roles.

In a passionate post shared on Monday, Akinlami revealed that she has endured this situation for over five years, alleging that Afod has consistently sabotaged her opportunities in the industry. She also accused Afod’s wife of engaging in defamation against her.

Expressing her frustration, Akinlami stated, “I am boiling inside of me right now. I have kept this thing for over five years. This is the fifth year running. I beg you in the name of God. All the powers that be in this industry already know about this matter. Mr. Kunle Afod please leave me alone. Please leave me and my career. What have I done to you?”

She recounted instances where she was allegedly barred from roles even after being initially considered by producers. According to Akinlami, Afod would intervene and demand her removal from projects where he was involved as a director or actor.

Akinlami’s frustration reached a tipping point when she detailed a recent incident where she was reportedly rejected from a job offer because of Afod’s influence. She expressed bewilderment over the situation, questioning what she had done to deserve such treatment.

Furthermore, Akinlami accused Afod of wielding his influence to dictate whom she could collaborate with on set, citing an instance where another actor, Femi Adebayo, was allegedly discouraged from working with her.

She concluded her post by asserting that Afod’s actions have significantly impeded her career growth, claiming that she has missed out on numerous opportunities because of his interference.

This public call-out sheds light on the internal dynamics and power struggles within the Nollywood industry, highlighting the challenges faced by actors in navigating professional relationships and securing roles.
