Benue people have been advised to remain supportive of the APC led Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia administration as the challenges being faced currently are temporal.
Chief Press Secretary to the governor Mr Tersoo Kula who gave the advice in a statement made available to journalists Thursday in Makurdi, also assured Benue people that it was only a matter of time before celebration would return to the nooks and crannies of the state for the masses to laugh again as they will begin to see real- time changes and massive transformation across the state.
He recalled that the emergence of Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia as governor of the state was widely celebrated as well as seen by many as a devine intervention in the affairs of the state, after a long period of what he described as the locust year’s characterized by bad governance and misuse of the limited resources of the state by the previous government.
He said governor Alia’s emergence truly signalled renewed hope for a diverse segment of Benue masses following months of unpaid salaries and years of owed pensions and gratuities which made life miserable for most people particularly the senior citizens.
According to him workers and pensioners kept hoping against hope, wondering who would bail the proverbial cat out of the bag and turn their situations around for good, assuring that the cleric would not disappoint the people now that they have entrusted their fortunes in his hands.
He said since assumption of office the Reverend gentleman has hit the ground running which part of it is bringing about decency in government business, stressing that the governor has brought about a new order of conducting government activities and equally abolished the business as usual syndrome.
The chief press secretary equally disclosed that a closer look at the appointments the governor has made into his cabinet could reveal that he is set to do things differently by moving away from the past tradition of perpetual recycling people in government by appointing fresh hands that are competent, capable with the character to deliver the goods.
Mr Kula who said many Benue indigenes have commended governor Alia for the paradigm shift in governance as well as recognizing youths in his government by giving them such appointments as commissioner’s, special advisers, Special and Personal assistants in his government, called on people of the state to support the governor to realize his dreams of developing the state most especially that he has a vision which is clear enough.
The chief press secretary who said though the governor recognizes the enormity of the job at hand, he has equally acknowledged that it is what he signed for, assured that governor Alia is determined to fix the state and usher in a new era of progress and prosperity no matter the challenges.
Mr Kula who said the governor’s singular desire is to take the state from the low valley of misery and deprivation to the mountain top of economic growth and development expressed optimism that with Reverend Father Alia in the saddle, Benue will surely rise again.
