Amnesty Contractors calls for investigation of Amnesty boss

By Wilfred Francis

Presidential Amnesty Contractors in collaboration with
Ex-agitators in the Niger delta has called on President Mohammed Buhari, the vice president Prof Yemi Osinbanjo ,the Chief of staff to the president & the EFCC to investigate the activities of the Special Adviser & coordinator of the Niger delta presidential amnesty program, Prof Charles Dokubo stating
that a timely intervention will avert election crisis.

According to the group, the program has never experience such bad and selfish leadership since its formation as the core value for the struggle of the Ijaw nation & the reason for the reintegration, empowerment of the Amnesty program seems to be forgotten.

The group while lamenting on non payment of contractors, student school fees,  added that the Amnesty boss has failed to attending to pressing issues which if not checked has the tendency to erupt crisis in the creeks.

‘‘We the Amnesty contractors have observed lot of irregularities
under Prof Charles Dokubo leadership. The corruption going on in the
amnesty office is quite alarming, Vice President Osinbajo this office is directly supervised by your office and we ask that you form a team with the EFCC, to investigate the activities of this office. There will be crisis very soon in the creeks because the boys have not been paid.

‘‘We do not want crisis in the Niger delta as the elections are close, the boys who have been trained are yet to be empowered because the Contractors have not been paid.

‘‘The vendors have been trying to contact the office in Abuja, but we
discovered that all the staff do not have access to their phones once
they are within the office premises. The students are calling, the boys are calling and no one is responding to their call and it has made us question the style of the new Amnesty boss. This is supposed to be an intervention office for the people of the Niger delta but
when the people of the Niger delta cannot speak and cannot interface
with the office, it calls for some level of concern, we do not know
what is going on, we want V.P Osinbajo to interfere in this matter swiftly’’ he explained.

The group while lauding the activities of President Buhari on sustaining the amnesty program noted that the action of the Amnesty boss has a tendency of devaluing the APC administrations.

‘‘Our votes must count during the elections but with the present situation, a lot of our youths under the amnesty program are growing cold feet.  Mr President we urge you to call the Amnesty boss to order so that we can come out in mass during the 2019 elections’’.

Also adding their voice was the Ijaw grass roots movement who pleaded with Mr President to ensure that payments are made as soon a possible.
