“APC Governors Urge Patience Amidst Betta Edu Investigation”

Governors affiliated with the All Progressives Congress (APC) have cautioned Nigerians against premature judgments regarding the suspended Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu. Following President Bola Tinubu’s directive for an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigation into financial transactions related to the ministry, APC governors emphasize the need to await the outcome of the anti-graft investigation.

Edu faced criticism after a leaked memo on December 20, 2023, revealed her directive to transfer N585 million to a private account. The APC governors, led by Chairman of the Progressives Governor’s Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, underscored their unity and pledged continued support for Tinubu’s administration to fulfill the renewed hope agenda.

Governor Uzodinma stated, “The Progressive Governors’ Forum is united in supporting the APC administration ably led by our President Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu GCFR. We will continue to support him, we will take his policies to the grassroots.”

Addressing the allegations against Edu, Uzodinma emphasized the importance of patience and awaiting the investigation’s conclusion before drawing conclusions. He stated, “What you just said about Betta Edu is just an allegation, and in the wisdom of the President, it is being investigated. So we should not be in a hurry and don’t allow any sickness like anxiety cirrhosis.” The APC governors affirmed their commitment to encouraging good governance and responsible appointments, emphasizing the need for due process in handling allegations.
