APC leadership appointments criticized as a “double tragedy” by Lukman

The National Vice Chairman, North West, of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Salihu Lukman, expressed his disappointment with the appointment of Senator Abdullahi Adamu as the National Chairman and Senator Iyiola Omisore as the National Secretary of the party. Lukman described this combination as a “double tragedy” for the ruling party.

In his statement, Lukman accused Adamu and Omisore of hindering the functioning of other higher organs of the party, except for the National Working Committee (NWC). He criticized the NWC for providing selective and biased information to its members, and for the National Legal Adviser, Barr. Ahmed El-Marzuq, providing questionable legal interpretations.

Lukman questioned how a party that aims to be progressive could have leaders who hold conservative views. He also raised concerns about the use of ethnic arguments against the zoning decisions approved by the NWC, particularly regarding the leadership of the 10th National Assembly.

He urged President Bola Tinubu to take a stand and ensure that the decisions and endorsements made by the party are respected. Lukman called for the activation of higher organs of the party to legitimize the NWC’s decisions, rather than allowing a factional leadership to emerge.

Overall, Lukman expressed his disappointment with the leadership appointments and their potential impact on the party’s progress and unity.
