By Steve Oni, Ilorin

No fewer than 300 women across the three senatorial districts of Kwara state have held a Special Prayer for the actualisation of the ambition of Mallam Salihu Mustapha to become the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The women, who are beneficiaries of Mustapha’s empowerment schemes, prayed God to ensure the emergence of the Kwara- born politician as the next national chairman of the ruling APC.

The prayer session, which was held in compliance with the COVID-19 safety protocols, took place at the Secretariat of Salihu Mustapha Foundation, Fate area, Ilorin, the state capital.

The leader of the women group, Alhaja Silifat Ajibola Adeboye said they organised the prayer session in appreciation of Mustapha’s contributions to their welfare.

“We organised this prayer to ask God to please ensure that Malam Salihu Mustapha emerges the next national chairman of the APC.

“Despite the fact that Malam Mustapha is not occupying any public office either at the state or national level, he has tremendously assisted the women through his numerous empowerment schemes,” Adeboye stated.

Sheikh Sulaiman Thanni, who led the prayer session, acknowledged Mustapha’s philanthropic gestures and passion for human development, and urged other well heeled people in the state and Nigeria at large to take a cue from him (Mustapha).

Sheikh Thanni prayed God to make the politician’s ambition realisable, saying, if Mustapha becomes the APC National Chairman, he would do more in alleviating poverty in the society
