The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the timetable for its gubernatorial candidate selection process in Ondo State, setting April 25, 2024, as the date for the primaries ahead of the November 16, 2024, governorship election.

Released late Monday and signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Sulaimon Argungu, the timetable outlines key activities leading up to the primaries.

Nomination, expression of interest, and delegate forms will be available for purchase from April 3 to April 10, 2024. The primary election itself is scheduled for April 25, 2024.

In terms of fees, the APC has set the Expression of Interest form at N10 million and the Nomination Form at N40 million for Ondo State. However, female aspirants and persons with disabilities will only need to pay for the Expression of Interest form, while the Nomination Form will be provided free of charge to them. Additionally, youths aged 25 to 40 will receive a 50% discount on Nomination Forms.

Several contenders are vying for the APC ticket in Ondo State, including Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who succeeded the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu after his passing on December 27, 2023. Others in the race include former Ondo deputy governor, Wale Akinterinwa, and Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, representing Ondo South.

Ondo, along with Edo, is among the states where gubernatorial elections are held off-season due to various litigations and court judgments. The other affected states include Anambra, Bayelsa, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, and Osun.
