COVID-19 : Kwara govt announces total lockdown of the state

Kwara state government has announced the total shut down of the entire state with effect from 6pm on Friday.

The new measure banned all vehicular movements, including private vehicles, and all manner of shops and markets, except foodstuff sellers and operators of medicine shops that are allowed to operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10 and 2pm.

The state Deputy Governor and Chairman, Kwara state Technical Committee on COVID-19, Mr. Kayode Alabi, announced the total lockdown of the state at a news conference in Ilorin, the state capital, on Thursday.

He expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by the people of Offa on the lockdown order placed on the town since Tuesday.

Alabi thanked the federal government for its support to the state technical committee on COVDlD-19, and urged Kwarans not to panic, but to strictly adhere to all the safety measures on COVID-19.
