Rivers State’s Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a warrant for Gift David Okpara Okpolowu, known as 2-Baba, and his gang for the assassination of Divisional Police Officer, Bako Angbashim, in Odiemudie Community, Ahoada East district.

Additionally, a N100 million reward is up for grabs for any information leading to 2-Baba’s capture and trial.

Governor Fubara also indefinitely suspended monarch Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi, citing involvement in the murder.

In a Saturday evening statement to the press, the Governor revealed that the monarch had allowed the notorious David Gift and his gang to operate unimpeded in his territory.

Detailing the events, the Governor shared how SP Bako Angbashim and his squad faced an ambush after an operation, leading to SP Bako’s capture and subsequent murder.

Evidence suggests 2-Baba and his gang’s involvement in a string of violent crimes in the Ahoada East area.

Governor Fubara expressed determination in apprehending the culprits and restoring security in the affected areas. Measures include the declaration of 2-Baba and his gang as wanted and placing a hefty reward for their capture. Furthermore, the suspension of Eze Cassidy Ikegbidi indicates accountability for aiding and abetting these criminals.

Governor Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the security of Rivers State residents. Expressing condolences to SP Bako’s family, he described him as a valiant officer who sacrificed his life for the safety of others. The government pledged support to the bereaved family during this trying period, praying for the departed’s soul’s peace.
