The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Wednesday directed workers from its affiliated unions to resume work the next day, Thursday.

Following the conclusion of the union’s two-day warning strike intended to spotlight the hardships faced by Nigerians due to the removal of the petrol subsidy, this directive was issued.

The letter, dated September 6, 2023 and titled ‘The Two-Day Nationwide Warning Strike: Nigerian Workers have spoken’, signed by NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, highlighted that the essence of the strike clearly reached the government.

Part of the letter stated, “Clearly, our collective voice has caught the government’s attention, and only those not paying attention would miss it.”

With the conclusion of the two-day warning strike, workers were urged to end the strike and get back to work as originally planned, praising their dedication to the collective cause.

The letter further noted that if the government does not meet their demands, the workers should remain resolute, hinting at the potential for a more prolonged strike. The NLC affirmed its dedication to defending Nigerian workers and emphasized the importance of unity for positive change.
