Cleric urges Tinubu, Kwara Gov to hit the ground running
*Seeks justice, fairness, equity in governance
By Stephen Olufemi Oni, Ilorin
The newly inaugurated President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State have been charged to hit the ground running, especially in critical sectors, by turning around the Nation and Kwara state for the good of the citizenry.
The charge was given on Monday by the Executive Secretary,
ECWA Fate Tanke District Church Council, Ilorin, Reverend Joseph, in a statement tagged “My advice to the Peoples’ Governor” released in Ilorin, the state capital.
Reverend Agboluaje enjoined the new governments at the federal and state levels to put the right peg in the right hole for efficiency and effectiveness.
The Cleric admonished quick actions in the areas of economy, security, fuel subsidy and other critical sectors towards tackling inflation and other various challenges confronting the Nation.
The Executive Secretary, who congratulated the newly elected leaders, specifically called on Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to take workers’ welfare with more vibrant interest, since they are the engine room of the success of any government.
According to him, “infrastructural development and innovation should be prioritised in all the nooks and crannies of Kwara State,” adding that Federal/State appointments should be spread across the three Senatorial Districts of the State to ensure justice, fairness and equity.
“On Religion, the Governor, (as father of all) must strike the balance between the two major religions. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, as the adage goes” he advised.
Reverend Agboluaje stressed the need to accord Traditional institutions the importance and respect since they are there to preserve the tradition and customs of the people.
The Governor, he urged, must be more focused as some people around him may inadvertently serve as detractors “since Kwara State has been making progress since this God-sent Governor took over the affairs of the State”.
“One can count his achievements in infrastructural development, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensioners, fairness in the appointment and a smooth relationship between the three tiers of Government. But, Mr Governor, hear this, the challenge ahead may be more than the challenge behind he opined.
He said: “From history, I understand that only a few governors performed well in their second tenures, for the reason I may not be able to fetch out, readily. Probably, since no third term is permissible. But Sir, for you to write your name with gold, changing the narrative is necessary.”

2027: NDC Inaugurates Reconciliation Committee, Appoints Utomi, Galadima as Leaders
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has inaugurated its National Reconciliation Committee as part of efforts to resolve internal disputes and strengthen party unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during the inauguration on Thursday, the party’s National Chairman, Moses Cleopas, announced Professor Pat Utomi as chairman of the committee, with Buba Galadima serving as co-chairman.
Cleopas charged the committee members to carry out their responsibilities with fairness, integrity, impartiality and strict adherence to the party’s constitution.
He urged them to engage all stakeholders, patiently hear grievances, reconcile aggrieved members and make bold recommendations where necessary in the overall interest of the party.
According to him, the committee’s primary responsibility goes beyond resolving disputes, as it is also expected to rebuild confidence, restore trust and reinforce unity within the NDC.
The party chairman assured all aspirants who did not secure nominations that they remain valuable members of the party and will continue to play important roles in the campaigns and preparations for the 2027 elections.
He stressed the need for an inclusive campaign that gives every committed member and stakeholder a sense of belonging while ensuring that genuine grievances are addressed.
Cleopas also appealed to party leaders, aspirants, supporters and members across the country to cooperate fully with the reconciliation committee to promote unity and position the NDC for a successful outing in the 2027 general elections.

Kebbi APC Chieftain Withdraws Support for Tinubu Ahead of 2027
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State, Adamu Yahaya, popularly known as Adam Fakai, has withdrawn his support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, citing what he described as a lack of recognition from party leaders.
Fakai announced his decision in a statement, saying he would no longer promote the activities and programmes of the Tinubu administration after spending more than two years showcasing government projects and policies across the country.
According to him, he devoted his personal resources, time and energy to publicising the administration’s achievements because he believed in President Tinubu’s leadership and development agenda.
However, he said his efforts were neither acknowledged nor appreciated by APC leaders at the state and federal levels.
Fakai also alleged that some prominent political figures used photographs and videos of Federal Government projects he documented without giving him credit or reaching out to him.
He explained that the perceived lack of appreciation influenced his decision to discontinue promoting the administration, adding that he believes he might have received greater recognition if he were from another state.
Despite withdrawing his support, Fakai expressed gratitude to individuals who encouraged and supported him throughout the period.
The APC chieftain gained prominence on social media for travelling across Nigeria to document and publish photographs, videos and reports highlighting infrastructure projects and other development initiatives of the Tinubu administration.

Davido, Bashir Ahmad Set for Political Face-Off as Osun Campaigns Intensify
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Bashir Ahmad appear set for a fresh political showdown in Osun State as campaigns intensify ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The latest development follows a heated exchange between the duo on X after President Bola Tinubu held a telephone conversation with Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is Davido’s uncle.
Celebrating the call, Davido posted that he “was there live” and had “witnessed history,” a remark that drew a response from Bashir Ahmad.
The former presidential media aide said he had bookmarked the singer’s post, suggesting that Davido would return to the platform to express disappointment after the governorship election.
Davido responded by mocking Ahmad over his reported performance in the APC primary election, where he allegedly polled 16 votes. He also accused the APC chieftain of failing to make a meaningful impact in his community despite serving in government for eight years.
In a follow-up post, Ahmad announced that he would be in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, from August 11 to participate in the APC’s campaign activities.
“I will be in Osogbo from 11th, David,” Ahmad wrote.
Meanwhile, political activities have intensified across Osun State as parties step up campaigns ahead of the governorship poll. The APC is campaigning for its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, while incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke is seeking re-election under the Accord Party.
